For years I have warned clients not to store their data only in the cloud. Why? Because a number of companies have gone out of business, without making their clients data available. Well, this week it happened to me. I was notified that Cubby was stopping their cloud storage at the end of September. I went to the site, and to my surprise, I had stored some files that were not on any of my local storage devices. I started doing a download, and after 4 hours, received an error message saying that the transfer was terminated. Now I need to spend more time.

As I have said before – At least keep one copy of ALL your folders and files on local storage. Cloud is great for sharing and collaboration, but don’t expect your files to be there forever.
